Indigenous 101 - with Sheila Maracle of the Mohawk Nation
As we lead into the National Indigenous Heritage Month - a time for us to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis, we are very happy to be able to collaborate with Connections Community Services Society and invite Sheila Maracle of the Mohawk Nation.
Sheila is a teacher by profession and we are thrilled to have Sheila join us with her wealth of knowledge and experience. On May 31, let’s go beyond acknowledgement and learn about Indigenous history while celebrating culture with drumming and song.
Some of the activities on that day include a presentation of the Indigenous history, participation in Indigenous singing and drumming as well as doing a game about the Indigenous culture.
For those interested to join for lunch after, we can walk over to Aberdeen Centre and do lunch at the food court.
