Biryani is one of the most popular dishes among the South Asian diaspora, although the dish is often associated with the region’s Muslim population in particular. Similar dishes are also prepared in Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, Thailand, and Malaysia. Biryani is the single most-ordered dish on Indian online food ordering and delivery services, and has been labelled as the most popular dish overall in India. This month, we will go to K-Town in Burquitlam (aka Burnaby/Coquitlam) to see how Koreans prepare for their Lunar New Year (Seollal (설날) ). Seollal (설날) is the biggest holiday of the year, and it is a day when the entire family gathers in hanbok, traditional Korean clothes, to do saebae, which is the most important tradition. It is an act of bowing deeply with respect to wish a happy new year to elders while saying “Saehae bok mani badsaeyo” (새해 복 많이 받으세요). 📅日期:1月25日 (星期六) (January 25, 2025 Saturday) ⏰時間 : 10:30am - 12:30pm 🚩集合地點: Lougheed Skytrain Station - east exit near the bike lockers (Burnaby) (https://maps.app.goo.gl/7xQQsa6mLnvyf7Bc8) 💰費用:Free.
